Level 1 (Basic) Class Outline

Level 1 training classes are taught “classroom” style with the instructor teaching with an overhead projector, class workbook, and demo data for those who bring laptop computers.

Laptop computers are permitted in the classroom; however, they are not necessary.  Every attendee will be given a class workbook that contains program photos and step-by-step instructions for taking notes.  If a laptop computer is used in the classroom, it is the responsibility of the attendee to complete the following steps:

Recommended Steps for Laptop Users
1)  Arrive early (recommend 1/2 hour prior to the start of class)
2)  Install Farm Works on your laptop with the latest version prior to class
3)  Complete registration of software prior to class

The cost of the class includes lunch on both days.  Participants will be able to purchase Update Service Plans and additional software modules.  If using laptops in the classroom, it is recommended to purchase Update Service Plans prior to the start of the class.  This offers more time to install the software and ask questions.

Level 1 classes cater to the basics of each program.  Day 1 starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM and will provide great startup information on Farm Works™ Mapping.  The morning of Day 1 will cover the setup of clients, farms, fields, equipment, supplies, tank mixes, and personnel.  Once these inputs are added, farming operations and printing of reports will be discussed.  Basics of mapping will be covered in the afternoon.  Using Bing™ maps, drawing fields, reading yield data and soil type maps, and working with layers will be the main focus of the afternoon.

Farm Works will offer split sessions on Day 2 of the level 1 training classes.  Day 2 starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM.  When you sign up for a class, you will be asked for which session you would like to attend.  Attendees will have the option to attend one of two sessions as follows:

  • Session 1 - Farm Works AccountingThe morning focuses on setting up and getting started with Accounting.  The afternoon covers entering transactions into the program and using features such as budget, account register, enterprise statements, market value, and payroll.
  • Session 2 -Farm Works Mobile and Other Mapping – This session includes using the Farm Works Mobile software for mapping boundaries, soil sampling, and scouting.  It also includes instruction on how to transfer data wirelessly between the office and field by using Office Sync.  Depending on the instructor, the Mobile session can also be substituted for Farm Works Surface.

Both sessions will be held simultaneously on the second day (provided there is enough interest in each session). Attendees can attend either session, or they can split their day between the two sessions. Breaks and Lunch will be held at the same time so attendees can move between classes without interruption. While we do our best to stay with the detailed outline, there is no guarantee that the material listed in the outline will be covered within the time frame that is listed.
